weekend of big fish
Went out Friday with Ryan Rayber and the amberjack assassin’s and had a limit of ajs. Tried trolling for wahoo but only caught 20 ajs on the troll. Called it a day with 4 jacks.
On Saturday I had Ken Lutch and crew down from Dallas. After a slow day out east the day before I decide to go west and try the “old lump” and boy did it pay off. We started the day trolling for wahoo and picked up three wahoo and 4 blackfins. The hoo going 86lbs. At about noon we switched gears and started tuna fishing. It did not take long to start hooking up. We put 5 nice yellas in the boat. The 2 biggest going 155,and 145.
On Sunday Capt. Scott Leger had Dave and crew. Scott put a hurting on the fish and his crew. He ended the day with 4 nice yellas ranging from 120-75 lbs. He also had a mess of blackfin. (Ps) Scott is open on Thursday and the forecast is calling for 1-2 ft seas. If you want a shot a a 200lb tuna this is your best chance to put one in the boat.
I had Mike and gang down from Texas and thy got what they were looking for. They wanted to take home some tuna meat. Well lets just say they got what they asked for. The very first bait out Jeff hooked the man, the beast, the big kahuna! A 230 lb yellowfin. He put a whipping on the fish bringing it boat side in only 1 hr. Great job Jeff! We fished the rest of the day only to pick up one more small yella and 8 blackfins. The winter fishing is in full swing right now the bite is hot so come down to venice and take your chance at landing the big one. We will be fishing the rest of the week. Give me a call if you would like to fish on Thursday with Capt Scott. Will post this weeks catch in a few days. Hope to get another big one!
Enjoy the pics
