1-26/1-28 trips
Great trip. We chartered w/ Paradise Outfitters of Louisianna, Capt Hunter Caballero and fished 26-28 Jan, (Tue-Thur). Tue, 26 Jan, we had the good fortune of hooking up and after a two hour standup fight we had a clean boat side release of a 300#+ Blue Marlin. Hunter & Woody (deck hand) worked the boat fantastic. The fish made eight hard turns at the boat, had it not been for perfect boat handling it would have been the story of the one that got away. We also boxed a 100#+ YFT on chunk (caught by Margie Butler, Scott’s wife) a great day for the Butler’s,and another smaller one on jig, along with several BFT. We also jigged up a 6 person limit of AJ (25-40#) along with Scamp. On Wed,27 Jan, we boated 6 YFT mostly on chunks, along with several pulling hooks. Jigging was hot again with another limit of AJ’s and several scamp. On Thur, 28 Jan we couldn’t get far off shore with the Gulf kicking up but made it out far enough to jig several rigs. Results, another limit of big AJ’S, 3 GAG Grouper, 2 of which were 35#, and 15 Scamp. Deep dropped a little bit with bait but that bite was not there. Jigs were HOT all three days. Most of the time we had double hook up’s and a couple four hooked up at the same time. I can not count up the number of big AJ’S that we released unharmed. I can not praise Capt Hunter
Caballero enough, our group are experienced off shore anglers and to the person, agree that Hunter is at the top of our list, WE will be back. We landed the first Blue Marlin of the year in Venice, and listening to the boat radio ond dock talk we had the best of everyone out there. I will post photos of the trip along with video of the Blue Marlin fight later
